The most common mistake is ordering the wrong height. Measure your counter: standard kitchen counters (90 cm) need 60–65 cm seat height, while bar-height surfaces (105 cm) need 75 cm seats. Allow 60–70 cm width per stool along your island. Expect to pay £80–£200 per stool for solid options, or £250–£500 for designer or fully upholstered designs. Footrests are essential for comfort — avoid stools without them unless you only sit briefly.
